One of Jamaica’s most beloved theatrical characters - "Delcita Coldwata" is back in South Florida with her latest stage comedy, “Contestant 69”, playing for one night only on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the show begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Written and directed by the multi-talented Andrea Wright, this brand-new production is being presented for the first time ever in South Florida, and promises the uproarious comedy and sharp social commentary fans know and love.
Delcita, the wise-cracking helper with unmatched wit, finds herself in the middle of pure “bang-ga-rang” following the sudden death of her employer. Uptown politicians, schemers and socialites set their sights on the decease’s lavish mansion, and Delcita is deep in the melee.
Somehow, our unlikely heroine ends up as a contestant in a glamorous pageant. But the snooty pageant manager is in a frenzy, branding her a high-risk participant. Will the crowd-favorite underdog rise to the occasion? Will she claim what’s rightfully hers? And what’s really in the will?
Delcita is a high-risk contestant but is very frenzied. She is popular among the fans, but certainly not the picky sponsors. Will Delicta get to the finals? Is Delcita’s inheritance real? Was there really a Will?
Get your tickets to see, Delcita and Frenz in Contestant 69.
